Rodent Management

Regulation and Codes of Practice now cover the use of professional anticoagulant rodenticides and the use of metallic phosphides. Any rodent control using professional second generation anticoagulent rodenticides must be carried out by a person with a recognised award in the use of rodenticides. Use of aluminium phosphide pesticides also requires recognised certification, see below.

Farmers, game keepers and pest controllers have a legal obligation to comply to the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU) Code of Best Practice. It is now a requirement of the authorisation for professional rodenticide products that this CRRU guidance document should be followed.

Possession of an approved qualification, such as the Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Rodent Management, obtained after appropriate training, demonstrates professional competence and permits purchase of rodenticide products.

Mole Control

Moles can cause damage to land and have been linked to the production of listeria which, in fields that are being cut for grass or silage for feed, can have devastating effects on animals and livestock

You can learn how to find mole runs, set traps and safely remove moles from your land on a half-day course. This comprises class-based and practical outdoor sessions.
