FITTEST FARMERS IN THE COUNTRY CROWNED IN LATEST COMPETITION

After battling through several rounds of challenging events the winners of Britain’s Fittest Farmer have been announced.

The Farmers Weekly annual competition, sponsored by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, has been running since 2018 and this year the finals were held in Essex. The competition aims to celebrate the nation’s farming community while championing fitness and mental wellbeing.

“It is vital to ensure everyone has good mental and physical wellbeing, for all workplaces, but especially in demanding jobs such as farming,” said Laura Bignall, Brand and Performance Manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Emily Ashford was crowned Fittest Farmer in the female under 40 category while Anne Grindal picked up the award in the female over 40s section. William Arden was the male under 40 category winner and Michael Georgiou the male over 40s.

In the final, the contestants were faced with a physical assault course designed to test the their speed, power and endurance. The event was judged by Tom Kemp, of Farm Fitness.

“Britain’s Fittest Farmer Competition brings together people from all over the country and shines a light on physical and mental wellbeing in the farming community,” said Andrew Meredith, Editor of Farmers Weekly.
