Open Farm Sunday visitors pledge to buy British food
Almost 250 farms took part in the LEAF Open Farm Sunday on 11 June welcoming over 170,000 visitors, with 87% saying that the experience had increased their trust in British farming and 89% admitting that said they would now buy more British food.
Results from the post event visitor survey revealed 41% of visitors had someone in their group who had been inspired to consider a career in farming.
Annabel Shackleton, LEAF OpenFarm Sunday Manager said: “Experiencing farming first-hand, seeing the realities of food production and meeting with farmers face to face is having a huge impact, raising awareness of the world class production and welfare standards British farmers work to and all they are doing to address the climate crisis.”
Open Farm Sunday 2024 will take place on the 9 June. Farmers wishing to take part can register their event at: www.farmsunday.org
